This page will chronicle Lindy's adventures in California with friend and dog trainer, Lisa
Adams, of
PV Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

Lisa and I had an inspiration:  she likes to train dogs, I like to show dogs.   Hmmm . . . . . what if we traded dogs for a while - she
trains one of mine and I show one of hers?  Sounded like a good idea to us, so we did it!  On July 10th, 2009 we met halfway and
traded dogs.  She got Lindy and I got Devin (Lindy daughter) and Nikki (Cleo daughter).  We will meet back up again on Labor Day
Weekend - hopefully Lisa will have an AKC conformation champ and I will have a performance title on silly Lindy!

Lisa has lots of experience training dogs.  Her boy, Kai, was the most titled Ridgeback in 2008, and is the sire of Cleo's 3rd litter in
May 2008.  She also trained Devin for her first Rally title and will be working on more, once Devin has finished her conformation
title.  So I'm confident if anybody can train Lindy, it's Lisa.

Follow our adventures, through the good, the bad, and the uhm . . .  ugly, while Lisa works her magic!

                             Follow Lindy's Progress:

July 11, 2009 - Lindy is introduced to the doggy door . . . she is so not interested and insists that Lisa open the flap for her
before she goes in.  Uh oh - I think Lisa is going to have her hands full!

July 12, 2009 - Lisa gets out the baby pool, determined to get Lindy to like the water.  We are all hoping that at some point
Lindy will enjoy swimming in the backyard pool.  But as soon as Lisa gets out the garden hose to fill the baby pool, Lindy is out
of there!  So much for the water . . . .

July 13, 2009 - Lindy gets her first heeling session in the backyard and does
GREAT!  Yay Lindy!  She is always a happy girl, so I hope Lisa can use that to her
    advantage!

    July 14, 2009 - Lisa can't get over Lindy's happy-go-lucky personality - Lindy likes
to bend her body almost double when she's wagging her tail and hits herself in the
    face . . . silly girl!
                                  July 25, 2009
Well, it's been a little while since I've posted updates, but it sounds like Lindy has
been doing well in boot camp.  Lisa actually wants me to enter her in a Rally trial in
                                                                  August - how exciting!

July 27, 2009 - Lindy gets swimming lessons - wow!  And of course Lisa insists on "safety first" so Lindy is equipped with
her own doggy life jacket, and they approach the dreaded water very slowly and cautiously.  I am proud of my Lindy girl - take
a look at how well she is doing:

August 8 -  Lisa entered Lindy in three practice run thrus on the Rally Novice course.  Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell
the squirrels to STAY HOME.  Kai has taught Lindy to hunt the squirrels in our yard so when she sees one of those fuzzy
critters now she goes crazy!!  Naturally the Novice ring was right next to the squirrels.  After a time lapse of about 15 minutes
without a squirrel sighting, Lisa finally got her to focus on the task at hand.  By this time it was our last run through and
reaching the mid-eighties.  Other than crooked sits I was pretty happy with her last performance.  After all, dogs AND squirrels
are quite a lot of distractions for her first time out.

August 12 - Nothing throws a wrench into a planned Rally trial like a girl coming into season.  Lindy's Rally career goes on
hold, as do her swimming pool jaunts.  However, she is still required to practice her routines daily, and looks forward to her 2
mile walks.

August 21- Lindy travels to Texas for her "date" with handsome stud dog, Sheriff.   We had to postpone the Mafu breeding
because the logistics just weren't going to work out, but Sheriff has the same sire as Mafu and is a gorgeous boy - super
excited to see how this match works out!

August 26 - Lindy and Sheriff are good friends, but no "action" yet.  We'll keep you posted.  Sheriff's owner, Elizabeth,
thinks it will be any day now . . .

September 1 - Lindy is finally back home - yeah!  We will have to wait a few weeks to find out if she's pregnant - stay tuned!

Yes, my friends, these are unretouched photos of a Rhodesian Ridgeback in a swimming pool.  Evidently
Lindy still wags her tail even in the water - what a good girl!!!
